Support the scheme

How can I help?

Become a fundraiser, a supporter — or train to be a First Responder.

Fundraiser or supporter

Community First Response schemes do not receive statutory funding. Some consumables are replenished by EMAS in the East Midlands, but main equipment and uniforms must be paid for by the scheme.

Contact the team if you can help raise funds for this vital cause. We sincerely thank all supporters who have helped us so far.

Some team members receive a donation from Heanor Town Council — thanks very much!

Who can become a Community First Responder?

  • 18 years or over, physically fit enough to achieve proficiency after training
  • Sympathetic, caring, reliable and trustworthy with a mature outlook
  • Live or work in Amber Valley or close by
  • Full clean driving licence and valid enhanced DBS certificate
  • Able to work as part of a community team
  • Available at least 16 hours per month to respond, plus meetings, training and fundraising

First Responder schemes are an additional resource — they do not replace emergency ambulance services. Many more lives are saved when communities partner with ambulance trusts.
